Nusa Dua Water Blow & Bukit Coastline Walk

Walk the southern Bukit Peninsula coast to the Water Blow — a natural blowhole where Indian Ocean waves funnel through a narrow rock crevice and explode in a vertical column of spray, one of Bali's most dramatic natural spectacles.

  1. 1

    Water Blow Nusa Dua

The Water Blow at Nusa Dua is a limestone crevice where ocean swells funnel and explode upward in a plume of white water — the effect is most dramatic at high tide or during a large swell, when the spray reaches 15 metres and soaks the viewing platform.

  2. 2

    Bukit Limestone Cliff Walk

The limestone cliffs of the Bukit Peninsula south of the Water Blow drop directly to the Indian Ocean — the cliff walk above the surge channels shows the geological character of the Bukit: a raised coral limestone plateau undercut by centuries of wave action.

  3. 3

    Nikko Hotel Beach

The beach below the Nikko Hotel at the southern end of Nusa Dua is less crowded than the main strip — the small cove below the limestone cliffs is accessible by hotel guests and is one of the few places in the Nusa Dua enclave with natural rather than manicured beach scenery.

  4. 4

    Tanjung Benoa Water Sports

Tanjung Benoa to the north of Nusa Dua is Bali's water sports hub — parasailing, jet skiing, banana boat rides, and glass-bottom boat trips to the turtle conservation island of Menjangan Kecil all depart from this narrow peninsula in Benoa Bay.

  5. 5

    Serangan Island Turtle Conservation

Serangan Island (Turtle Island) south of Sanur has a sea turtle conservation project — the hatchery breeds hawksbill, green, and loggerhead turtles for release, and the island is accessible by short boat trip as a half-day excursion from Nusa Dua.

  6. 6

    Benoa Harbour

Benoa Harbour is Bali's main commercial and cruise ship port — the harbour handles the international cruise ships, the car ferry to Java and Lombok, and the dive and fishing boats that serve Nusa Dua and the southern Bali tourist area.
