Legendary Dive Sites: Thistlegorm Wreck and the Blue Hole at Dahab
From Sharm, two of the world most famous dive sites are accessible by day trip. The SS Thistlegorm is the most celebrated wreck dive on earth. The Blue Hole at Dahab is one of the most dramatic underwater sinkholes anywhere.

SS Thistlegorm
A British WWII supply ship sunk in 1941 and rediscovered by Jacques Cousteau. The holds contain motorcycles, trucks, railway carriages and military equipment, all perfectly preserved and encrusted with coral.

Blue Hole Dahab
A circular sinkhole dropping to over 100 meters at the edge of the reef near Dahab, 80 km from Sharm. The shallow rim is spectacular for snorkelers. The tunnel arch connecting to open water is a technical dive for experts only.

Dahab Village
The relaxed backpacker alternative to Sharm, Dahab is a Bedouin village turned dive town with cheap guesthouses, outdoor restaurants on the waterfront and a completely different, slower pace.

Gordon Reef and Thomas Reef
Twin reefs in the Straits of Tiran north of Sharm, home to a cargo ship wreck on Gordon Reef and outstanding shark and ray sightings on the surrounding walls and tables.

The narrow straits between the Sinai and Saudi Arabia generate powerful currents that bring nutrients up from the deep, creating exceptionally rich reef ecosystems with large pelagic fish.

Sharm has well over 100 dive centers concentrated in Naama Bay and Hadaba. Standards are generally high, equipment is modern and English-speaking instructors are the norm at most established centers.
