Tatawa Island Dive Site
Tatawa Island inside Komodo National Park is a top-rated intermediate dive site — the walls, gardens, and current-swept points of the Tatawa reef have a fish density and coral coverage that represents the benchmark for what Flores diving offers when the current conditions align with a competent dive group, with schooling fish including sweetlips, snapper, and the ubiquitous fusilier schools that characterise the best Flores dive sites.

Crystal Rock Dive Site
Crystal Rock is the most adrenaline-rich dive site in Komodo National Park — the submerged seamount in the Siaba channel that can be dived only at slack tide due to the extreme currents that sweep through the passage at other times has, during those brief windows of calm water, extraordinary concentrations of large pelagic fish, sharks, and the manta rays that feed on the plankton concentrated by the current system.

Riung Marine Reserve
Riung on Flores' north coast, famous for the Seventeen Islands Marine Park, offers dive and snorkel sites very different from Komodo's current-swept passages — the calm protected water of the island group creates ideal conditions for beginners and photographers, with the dugong (sea cow) population in the sea grass beds of the bay providing one of the most unusual large-mammal marine encounters in Flores.

Maumere Coral Gardens
Maumere on the north coast of eastern Flores was Bali's main competitor as an Indonesian dive destination in the 1970s before a 1992 earthquake and tsunami destroyed the reef — the recovery of Maumere's coral over three decades since the earthquake has been remarkable, with the current reef garden representing a case study in reef resilience and a reminder that Flores' dive attractions extend well beyond Komodo National Park.

Alor Island Extreme Diving
Alor Island east of Flores is one of Indonesia's least visited but most highly rated dive destinations — the extreme currents, cold upwellings, and extraordinary fish life including rare species not found elsewhere in Indonesia attract experienced divers who have exhausted the more accessible options of Komodo and Bali. The remoteness that deters casual visitors has preserved Alor's reef in exceptional condition.
