Saladan Village North
Saladan Village at the northern tip of Koh Lanta Yai is the island's commercial hub and the arrival point for the ferry from the mainland — the cluster of market stalls, minimarkets, dive shops, motorbike rental operations, and the tour booking offices that serve the practical needs of island arrivals makes Saladan the most commercially active point on the island despite having no beach. The morning ferry arrival scene at Saladan pier (the vehicles, motorbikes, and pedestrians embarking and disembarking from the cross-channel ferry that still operates between Koh Lanta and the mainland despite the road-bridge crossing available further south) provides the most direct encounter with the practical logistics of island life.

Coconut Palm Plantation Road
The section of the main coastal road between Klong Dao and Long Beach passes through the remnant coconut palm plantation landscape that covered most of Koh Lanta before resort development — the mature coconut palms lining the road (some estimated to be 80-100 years old based on their trunk height) create the most atmospheric cycling environment on the island, with the dappled light filtering through the palm canopy and the small rubber plantation lots visible between the coconut groves. The coconut and rubber plantation landscape represents the agricultural economy that sustained the island's community through the mid-20th century and continues to function between the resort developments.

Central Interior Jungle Road
The interior road crossing the central ridge of Koh Lanta Yai from the western resort coast to the Old Town on the eastern shore passes through the island's most diverse landscape — the road climbs through rubber plantation into secondary forest and then primary forest at the ridge, with panoramic views of both coasts visible from the highest point. The 12km crossing takes 30-45 minutes by motorbike or 2-3 hours by bicycle and provides the only inland perspective on the island available to visitors, revealing the geography of the central hills that are invisible from the beach resort areas on either coast.

Klong Khong Mellow Beach
Klong Khong Beach south of Long Beach is the most mellow and least developed of Koh Lanta's accessible beaches — the slightly rockier beach (exposed reef at low tide limits swimming to the high-tide hours) has a slower commercial energy than Long Beach, with smaller bungalow operations, a more deliberately casual atmosphere, and the tide pools at low tide that provide the most interesting coastal walking on the island when swimming is not possible. The beach's slightly cooler energy attracts visitors who want the beach environment but without the water sports operations and beach vendor activity of the main resort beaches.

Klong Nin Quiet Beach
Klong Nin Beach in the southern section of Koh Lanta's western coast has developed a distinct boutique resort character with a small number of quality beach bungalow and villa operations among the mature casuarina trees — the beach's quiet afternoon atmosphere (fewer visitors than Long Beach despite similar sand quality), the reef visible at low tide providing accessible snorkeling, and the southern orientation that keeps the beach slightly cooler than the exposed northern beaches create an environment that attracts long-stay visitors and those seeking a quieter beach resort experience. Several of Koh Lanta's most recommended small restaurants are located on the Klong Nin beach road.

Waterfall Road Inland
The waterfall road inland from the central coast takes visitors to the Than Bok Khorani waterfall in the hills above the western resort zone — the paved road transitions to a concrete track and then a dirt path as it approaches the waterfall site, passing through the rubber plantation landscape and then secondary forest before reaching the cascade. The waterfall's swimming pool (significantly cooler than the sea at this latitude) and the forest environment at the base of the waterfall provide the most refreshing inland activity available from the Koh Lanta resort base, and the waterfalls are virtually empty on weekdays compared to the beach areas.
