Lake Weyba sits behind the coastal dunes between Noosa and Peregian Beach — the lake is connected to the sea via a narrow channel and the tidal movement drives the ecology of the surrounding wetland system.

Paperbark Forest Walk
Paperbark (Melaleuca) forest surrounds the lake margins — the tea-tree tannins in the water under the paperbark canopy create the amber-coloured water characteristic of all the Noosa waterways.

Wallum Heath
The wallum heath around Lake Weyba is one of the rarest ecosystems in Australia — the acidic, waterlogged soils support specialised plant and animal communities found nowhere else, including the wallum froglet.

Osprey Nesting Platform
An osprey pair nests on an artificial platform above the lake — the birds have used the platform for several consecutive years, and watching the adults hunt fish over the lake is one of the wildlife highlights of the walk.

The lakeside picnic area provides a peaceful alternative to the busy beaches — the still water, abundant birdlife, and the sound of the paperbark forest create a meditative environment away from the resort.

The Tewantin State Forest adjacent to Lake Weyba contains significant koala habitat — the forest is one of the most important remaining koala populations on the Sunshine Coast, with active management for their protection.
