Hồ Chí Minh Mausoleum — Morning Queue for the Embalmed Leader
The Hồ Chí Minh Mausoleum (Bà Đình Square, open Tuesday–Thursday and Saturday–Sunday, 7:30–10:30am) houses the embalmed body of Vietnam's revolutionary leader (1890–1969) under heavy guard — visitors must dress respectfully (no shorts, shoulders covered), maintain silence, and walk in single file past the glass sarcophagus; cameras must be left at the entrance (confiscated if caught inside).

One Pillar Pagoda — 11th-Century Lotus Flower Architecture
The Chùa Một Cột (One Pillar Pagoda, adjacent to the Hồ Chí Minh Mausoleum, 1049, rebuilt 1954 after French troops destroyed the original on their withdrawal) is built on a single stone pillar rising from a lotus pond — the architecture symbolizes the lotus as described in Emperor Lý Thái Tông's dream; the current structure is smaller than the original but maintains the architectural principle.

B-52 Lake — Shot-Down Bomber in a Residential Lake
Hồ Hữu Tiệp (B-52 Lake, Ngọc Hà, Ba Đình) contains the wreckage of an American B-52 Stratofortress bomber shot down during the December 1972 'Christmas Bombing' — the bomber's fuselage lies in 2 metres of water in a neighbourhood lake surrounded by houseboats and lotus flowers; residents fish from the bank beside the tail section; the site has no official signage.
